How to break the ice on a blind date

When going out on a tinder date/blind date next time you will not face problems like “the pause” or “what to ask now”? Breaking the ice will be much easier this time.

Here are few ideas to strike a conversation when on a blind date:

1. Ask about the other one’s family.

Yes, this is a popular first-date question, but for good reason. Go ahead and ask the basic questions about how many siblings she/he has and how big her/his extended family is? Let the answers lead to deeper, more meaningful ones. It shows you care and are invested in learning that she/he is from their roots and where she comes from.

2. What’s your all-time favorite song/artist/band/?

Asking about his/her favorite song, band, or artist tells you about their taste in music. But you can branch off and find out what his/her first concert was, who they are dying to go see, and if the cards work in your favor, these bits of information can turn into a phenomenal future date or surprise.

3.Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Instead of asking how close she is with her family, ask who the most influential person in your life is? This will tell you more about his/her family dynamics and close relationships with friends.

4. What has been your biggest regret in life?

Yes, this is a popular first-date question, but for good reason. Go ahead and ask the basic questions about how many siblings she/he has and how big her/his extended family is? Let the answers lead to deeper, more meaningful ones. It shows you care and are invested in learning that she/he is from their roots and where she comes from.

5. Where do you see yourself living?

This question is more revealing than you’d think. If he/she has plans to move to another country, he/she might not be in a place in her life where a long-term relationship is feasible. Likewise, if you’re dead set on living in a city, whereas she’s dying to live on a farm, there are going to be conflicting desires that can spell disaster for the relation.

6. What’s your favorite way remain active?

Fitness and health are obviously important to you. Instead of asking do you work out, see what their favorite physical activities are.

7. Do you have any hidden talents?

Maybe she’s a classically trained pianist or he a champion cup stacker in his youth. When you ask the right questions—even ones as simple as this—it can unveil a goldmine of information. And if you both share same talent, nothing can be better than that.

8. What is your favorite dish to cook?

Learn about her culinary skills, what food she likes, if she’s into healthy cooking, and has any favorite restaurants. Food is always a safe topic of conversation—and an endless one, too.

9. Which movies/books your date has seen recently?

Someone once asked me that at a party and this is so much more than a first date conversation tip. With this question you give the impression that you are interested in the other person’s hobbies as well.
