It’s screenplay had been adapted from the book of the same name by Andrē Aciman. The movie has been nominated for a number of awards and even bagged an Oscar for its screenplay.
‘Call Me By Your Name’, is a coming of age movie which showcases the love story between a 17 year old Elio (Timothēe Chalamet) and 24 years old Oliver ( Armie Hammer). Oliver is a grad-student spending his summer with a Jewish polyglot family of the professor Perlman. Elio, professor Perlman’s son, feels infatuated with Oliver and later falls in love with him. After much resistance Oliver, too, confesses his love.
The story is set “Somewhere In Northern Italy” in 1983. LGBTQ were not accepted back then the way they are now. But the story of Elio and Oliver goes beyond the social and religious barriers to some extent.
Both, Timothēe and Armie, had done justice to their roles and kept the audience captivated by their onscreen chemistry. The supporting cast of the movie is somewhat vast and diverse with actors like Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar and Esther Garrel.
This movie guarantees to bring out the emotional, hopeless romantic in you. The bitter-sweet story is a treat to anyone and everyone who appreciates good direction and cinematography.
So go ahead and enjoy this romantic treat!
