How to be emotionally intelligent?


Do you think mental stability is important? Do you think that being mentally strong and independent is important? Mental health is something people fear to talk about. People seem to judge the ones seeking help for their mental illness. Do you think people should be treated differently just because they are not in a good mental space?

I personally feel being mentally ill is the same as some other disease.

It's normal , mental health stigma should be stopped. To be emotionally stable\ intelligent one should always be optimistic. Like always seeing the good and positive sides of everything. We surely cannot ignore the negative aspects always but we can at least focus on the good sides and think of what good can be done. Mental health disorders are not something you would want in your life. Respect and give love and support  to the ones going through it. Don't romanticize and make them feel lesser or unheard. I mean one obviously can't be happy all the time. Life hurts and it's hard. Everyone would like to be mentally strong but mental stability can be really hard to achieve when life gives you the hardest challenges. In order to be mentally strong, you must prevent yourself from getting carried away by emotions to the point where you can’t see logic. You need to give things time and stop overthinking for a while .

To be emotionally intelligent one should also be able to balance the positive and the negative thoughts in a way that advantages you. Here are few ways which will help you manage you emotions/feelings efficiently:

• Try to find the reason behind the emotion you're feeling. Try to understand why are you feeling so , what could be the reason

• Change the way you think, the beliefs you follow shapes your feelings. Try thinking about things from a different perspective. 

• Avoid negative thinking. Always try to see the brighter side of things. 

• Try to control your emotions. Once you are able to control your emotions, you will feel more in control of your life.  

Lastly I would conclude this through an amazing quote by Swami Vivekanand on emotional intelligence 

"As soon as you know the voice and understand what it is, the whole scene changes. The same world which was the ghastly battlefield of maya is now changed into something good and beautiful."
