Bhagwad Gita is a 701 verse scripture which is part of Mahabharata. It is the dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, Pandav Prince. Lord Krishna plays the role of his charioteer and guide. Bhagvad Gita is still relevant in today’s world. No matter it was written 5000 years ago but its relevance in 21st century can’t be questioned because human beings though have developed but their spirituality and emotions haven’t changed. The Bhagvad Gita contains wisdom given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in middle of battlefield, everyone today fight various battles. They might be related to personal life, professional life, studies or battles going within our mind amongst our thoughts. This book offers solutions to all our problems. It is considered as manual for life. Some of the things which book teaches us are as follows:
1. Developing our Perspective- ( Chapter 5 verse -18)
Just before the Kurukshetra war was about to begin, Arjun felt confused and dejected. He refused to fight as he failed to visualize the outcome of his actions. Perceiving things in the right way plays a critical role in helping us understand what we should do, why we should do it. This shlok helps us to understand that we must develop our perspective but think from others viewpoint and perspective as well. It is necessary to understand the feelings of others, but it is not mandatory to agree with them.
2. Understand that change is the law of nature:
Change is inevitable. According to the Gita, everything has to change. When we are told that we need to change, we are reluctant to accept the advice or adamantly oppose it. To be successful, an individual needs to adapt to new situations, innovate and come up with better solutions, and explore new opportunities. So, while you enjoy the experience of being in familiar surroundings, be ready to usher in reforms and have new experiences. Changes+ our right attitude can create wonders. Comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there.
3. Change the way you think:
Having positive thoughts help us achieve a balanced perspective, stay confident, overcome negative feelings, prepare well to meet challenges, and channelize our energy to achieve our goals. So, do not let negative thoughts take over your mind and ruin your chances. Being grateful, meditating, reading positive literature are a few techniques that can help to become optimistic. Positivity gives us the power to deal with everything whether success or failure. We can become more happy and content with positivity.
4. Stay calm:
A calm mind will help us control our impulses, stay unperturbed and hopeful through both the good and the bad times, and keep stressors under control. It will also help us achieve clarity of thoughts. The knowledge that change is inevitable plays a big role in helping us stay calm. We can only see our reflection or image in calm water but in hot or boiling water no one can see their selves. Similarly, the person who is calm like water can be able to take right decision at the right moment. Angry or worried person will never able to make right decision. They spoil their own future because of their anger or over worries.
5. Never Compare
If we try to compare yourself with others, then we will always worry that we must be better than others, but the truth is all living beings are different, their characteristics, their lives are different. No two beings are same, and comparison is between two same quantities. Instead compare yourself with yourself and grow. Be better than the person who you were yesterday.
6. Develop yourself
Sculpture is inside the rock. Rock is not a sculpture. To make sculpture out of rock you need to hammer it. Similarly all failures and obstacles we face hammer us in order to convert us to a sculpture. Every failure gives us experience and develops us, but we are the one who should focus lessons and not on blaming. Like, Coal gets converted to diamond when heated, in difficult situation when anyone can give up, those who stay are the people with great will power and wisdom and they are the ones who grow.
7. Dream big:
Most remarkable achievements that we read or hear about are nothing but someone dreaming big and making their dream come true. So, do not be scared or doubtful about dreaming big and putting in unwavering effort to make it come true. At the same time, do not let easier goals distract you and make you lose focus from your higher objective. Dreaming big means preparing ourselves from inside to achieve our goal. When we think, then only we act. If we don’t think we can achieve big, how can we?
