MEDITATION - A MEETING OF MIND,BODY AND SOUL


Meditation is a state of mind where you feel one with yourself in calmness, peace and joy .There is a feeling of peace in you, feel good hormones rushing into your brain and there is hope to deal with this little complicated things called life.

let me start by telling you how I got into meditation


year 2014 a high school kid getting bullied in school with no friends to go for help one day comes across this book called 7 EFFECTIVE HABITS OF A TENNAGER BY SEAN COVEY and their in one of the chapters he had mentioned how meditation and exercise helps. After reading this book I knew I need to make change but I didn't knew it will work or not .

I started waking up at around 5 initially it was hard but eventually I got hang of it. I started with OM UPCHARAN and some 7-8 basic yoga asanas and after a week or two I started noticing the difference yoga made in my life.


BENEFITS OF DOING YOGA WHICH I NOTICED IN ME WERE -


1 HIGHER LEVEL OF CONCENTRATION

2 STRONG WILL POWER

3 A FEELING OF CALMNESS IN ME

4 A HEALTHY BODY FREE OF SOME SMALL PROBLEMS LIKE GAS,COLD,CONSTANT HEADACHES

5 ABLE TO REALISE THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE BY LOOKING AT SUNSET

6 FLEXIBILITY IN LIMBS OF HANDS AND LEGS


I don't vouch that meditation will work for you but it did work for me I was getting joy out of one hour I gave every morning to myself. I started watching sunrise, sky turn from darkness to light, started noticing birds chirping and dogs barking in the morning. I felt I will be able to deal with one more day at school and god knows how but my grades started improving a kid who had never payed attention in class her whole life was finally studying not only studying but exploring new books everyday like little women, black beauty, chicken soup, how to stop worrying and start living because I had discovered a hope that things will get better and power to change lies inside me .


I scored 91 % in school got into a good college but far from home, so no time for yoga. I got into college in 2016 and till 2020 lockdown yoga was like my EX coming and going out of my life but I don't know why but "TOUCHWOOD" this yoga child knew that life will get better once yoga comes back into her life. so one day I push myself out of bed in the morning it was 10'o clock and told myself don't care about time just do some ASANAS whatever you remember and I did. so I started again and I think it's been one and half month of doing yoga and yes I see benefits, the same benefits I saw earlier I am happy . some of the research conducted on the minds of meditators has shown yoga does makes you more happy but I will get into science part of yoga and meditation in some other article.


In this part I will tell you how you can bring yoga into your life -


1 TIME IS NOT A RESTRICTION - yes doing yoga early in morning is good but don't worry if you can't wake up at 5'o clock. you can do yoga at whatever time suits you. it can be morning, evening, noon or whatever time you would like it to be. I prefer doing yoga twice a day once after waking up and second time while going to school.


2 YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING - yoga is not just for youngsters with flexible body which can be easily bent or troubled teens who need to calm their nerves. yoga is for everyone, you just have to google the exercises for your age group or what suits your body. for ex if you have trouble sleeping google yoga exercises to sleep better, if you have trouble breathing just google yoga exercises to help you breath better.


3 YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO YOGA EVERYDAY - one doesn't have to make a rigid schedule for themselves you can do yoga as many times you want, on whatever days you want and at your time. it can be thrice a week or four times a week or maybe just on Sundays and morning. you can do it at night, morning, evening.


4 DON'T EXPECT RESULT IMMEDIATELY - don't expect gym like results from yoga. I believe yoga is a process of knowing oneself better. sitting down in peace letting your thoughts go wild but also learning to catch and control them. feel good about your body and after feeling good notice that toned body of yours, so while doing yoga be generous and don't expect result but enjoy whatever you get in the process like a well satisfied poor peasant.


SUMMING UP - To sum up I will say if you are looking for same change in lifestyle meditation and yoga can always be given a shot but always remember every body, brain is different so it might or might not work for you so always be flexible to adopt and improve if it works for you and discard if it doesn't work for you.
