As we all know, we all take care of our skin very much. The skin protects the internal organs from the external environment. It can traumatize by burn injuries, chronic wounds, excision, tumours, and other dermatological conditions. Burns are one of the most commonly seen trauma incidents.

When comes to the treatment of burns at home, the level of severity of the burn is of the utmost importance:

  • A first degree burns: swell slightly and turn white when you apply pressure to the skin.

  • Second degree burns: cause the skin to turn red, splotchy, and swollen.

  • Third-degree burn : damages all layers of the skin

1) Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has an effective anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effect. The gel form of Aloe vera has demonstrated the progress in the wound, burn, and frostbite healing, showing known as anti-inflammatory effects also antifungal, hypoglycemic, and gastroprotective effects. It is a choice for treating burns because the colourless gel that comes from the leaf parenchyma is a potent moisturizing agent; it also helps in the healing process of skin lesions and alleviates pain.

2) Jatyadi Oil

Jatyadi oil has healing properties to cure the burned skin. It is very effective for skin burns. Jatyadi Oil is a classical Ayurvedic formulation which heals burns and provides pain relief. Use a cotton ball and apply directly on the area.

3) Honey

Honey has been used as a topical treatment for chronic wounds and burns in traditional medicine by diverse parts around the globe. Honey’s antibacterial effect is proved effective for burn injuries. Using honey over burned area supplies an advantage of a wetter environment. It saves the burned surface entirely from infection.

4) Sandalwood Powder and Turmeric

These are the commonly used and available powders in our home. They instantly give relief to the burn injury. Prepare a herbal pack using basic ingredients like powdered sandalwood, turmeric, amla, etc. These ayurvedic powder possess anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties that heal burn scars, and eases pain. You can also pour in some rose water/milk to the pack to witness better results.

5) Calendula

It is a type of flower which posses the anti-inflammatory properties. It helps in healing the burn injuries. It contains nutrients and vitamins that help in the healing of wounds. These are used to cure various skin ailments, including burn injuries.

But it requires some more research that whether it had the same relief impact on human skin burns or not. Because it was tested on rat's skin.

These are some of the ayurvedic ways to cure burn injuries. These can be used immediately by us as they are very commonly used things in our daily life. They give amazing relief. Minor burns like sun burns or household burns can be treated with these home made remedies to minimise pain.

However, always remember these remedies are not the substitute for prescribed treatment by health care professionals.
